Danielle Marcoux It is well recognized that therapeutic education is an integral part of patient's care, in particular for chronic diseases, and that it is the key to the success of treatment. This concept is most appropriate for a chronic, recurrent disease such as atopic dermatitis (DA). The structured education content provided should aim at a better knowledge of the disease by the patient and his/her family to increase treatment adherence, recognition and avoidance of risk and aggravating factors and, if needed, adoption of appropriate changes. Atopic schools, created to provide this structured teaching, are being developed internationally and some are already in function in many countries. The objectives of this presentation are to demonstrate the importance, the role and the benefits of patients therapeutic education and to present you with a new School of Atopy whose program was developed at Hôpital Ste-Justine of Montreal.
