Dr. Wayne CareySculptra injectable poly-L-lactic acid was approved for use in Canada in June 2006. It is indicated for volume restoration and has been used in over 1,000 patients in its first year on the market. Unlike traditional injectable fillers that simply fill in lines, Sculptra is a stimulatory filler. It helps restore volume of depressed areas by stimulating the body to produce collagen. It has a very low viscosity and is used as a layering agent. The results are gradual and progressive over the treatment course and can last up to 2 years. It offers a new and unique treatment option for patients with mild to severe facial volume loss.
