Barrier Therapeutics, Inc. is a pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of products in the field of dermatology.

Barrier currently markets three pharmaceutical products in Canada:

  • VANIQA® (eflornithine hydrochloride) Cream 13.9% for slowing the growth of unwanted facial hair in women
  • Denavir® (penciclovir cream) Cream 1% for the treatment of herpes labialis (cold sores) in adults
  • and Solage® (mequinol 2%, tretinoin 0.01%) Topical Solution for the treatment of solar lentigines.

Barrier recently received approval from Health Canada for Xolegel™ (ketoconazole, topical gel, 2% w/w), for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis and plans to launch in the second half of 2007. Barrier Therapeutics has other product candidates in various stages of clinical development for the treatment of a range of dermatological conditions, including acne, psoriasis, onychomycosis and other fungal infections of the skin. The company is headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey and has wholly owned subsidiaries in Geel, Belgium and Ontario, Canada.
